God's work done in God's way will bring God's blessing.

If the devil cannot get us to be out-and-out evil, he will try to get us committed to a cause which is less than God's perfect will for our lives.

There is one root cause of all the evil in the world, and it is greed (i.e. the love of money). Any effort to tear branches off the tree without digging out the root will not succeed in solving the real problem There are literally millions of people dedicating their lives to any number of other causes. They don't mind attacking the "fruit"; but you would be lucky to find one in a million who will attack the "root".

Why is this?

The reason is that we have all been born into the greed tree, and it's not easy to chop down our own tree (especially while we are living in it). It is possible, however, to declare war on some of the other branches. And this is pretty much what the entire world is doing today. Everyone is fighting one another rather than getting to the real cause of it all.

There are movements against abortion, against evolution, against child abuse, against war, against racism, against any number of other evils, but they are all being fought from the branches of the same tree. In fact, one of the biggest branches in the whole tree is the branch labelled "self-righteousness'.

GreedTreeUnfortunately, even the people opposed to self-righteousness seem to be slashing away from somewhere else in the tree. Until we come right down out of it and start chopping at the root of all evil, we won't accomplish anything of eternal value.

Alcoholism, atheism, satanism, homosexuality, and cults all existed in Jesus' day. But how much did he have to say against any of these?

Even when he referred to the evils of Sodom and Gomorrah (from which we get the word sodomy) and the evils of Noah's day (presumably atheism), he makes no mention of homosexuality or atheism. What he does say is that people in those days were just too damn busy buying and selling, planting and building, and getting married and raising families to be bothered with obeying God - and this is exactly the same situation that we have today! (Luke 17: 26-30)

It is greed (yours and mine) that is the real root cause. While we try to make a business out of charity and religion, and while we limit our campaigns for truth to what is left over after we finish working for money, evil will continue to flourish.

God is looking for an army of people who are ready to trust him for all of their lesser goals, so that they can deal with the real cause of all the evils in the world.

Are you prepared to do God's work in God's way? If not, then it is pointless to expect God's blessing.
